Villages
Instead of making our Sunday Gathering the focal point of what we do, the primary venue for life in The City Church is “Villages,” or intentional communities on mission, who meet in homes, coffee shops, and pubs in various parts of Fort Worth. Then we have multiple “focus areas” of Fort Worth, which each Village seeks to engage and restore. The basic idea is that everyone in The City Church will find a Village near your home, as it best fits your schedule. In these intergenerational Villages, we do what the church did in Acts 2: we share a meal together, talk about life, spend time in biblical encouragement, pray for each other, and meet each others’ needs as they arise. On a regular basis, each Village will vary from its usual structure and spend our weekly time serving our community and loving our neighbors together, carrying out local mission.
[*HAVE KIDS? Some Villages provide KidCity for children; those Villages will say “KidCity provided” when you click-through to the map]

All-Church Gatherings
Realizing there is unity and beauty when the entire church body gathers, and knowing the biblical mandate for preaching, communion, etc, The City Church gathers together every other week, Sunday evenings at 6pm [see the schedule here]. All the Villages come together at Four Day Weekend Theater in the heart of downtown Fort Worth, for “family celebrations”: we celebrate God through song, prayer, and creed; we celebrate God’s word through preaching; we celebrate Christ’s finished work through communion; and we celebrate God’s work in our church family through sharing what he’s doing in our lives.
> Parking/Getting Around:
- The Four Day Weekend Theater is at 312 Houston St, between 2nd and 3rd St. The entrance is just north of The Reata.

SERVE Weeks
Since regular “church life” happens in your Village, once every 4-6 weeks we don’t hold an All-Church Gathering; instead, we worship in a way long-forgotten in the American church: instead of singing, preaching, and sharing together (“gathered worship,” or “worshipping in,” if you will), we instead worship “out,” or “scattered,” through loving our neighbors. In other words, we SERVE, seeking the welfare of our city, loving the proverbial widows and orphans in our midst, and showing glimpses of the gospel through beautifying run-down parts of our city. Practically, we throw block parties for our neighbors, invite co-workers and classmates over for dinner, clean up a park, mow elderly neighbors’ yard then eat dinner with them, serve at a homeless shelter, or any number of other opportunities. The point is not to “evangelize” folks, but to build relationships with them – seeing them as people, not projects – and letting God do what he will through us.
