Love Your Neighbors: July 4th Fiesta

Event Date:
7/4/2010 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Food, Music, & Fireworks

"Love your neighbors" is part of the greatest commandment Jesus ever gave. And if we're honest, most believers reject, ignore, or at best, forget about it - at very least, we don't do a very good job of it. So a few times over the course of 2010, we're carving intentional Sunday nights into regular City Life, for you to grab a few other "City folk" and love your neighbors. We're just asking you to live with gospel intentionality: start buildling relationships with your neighbors. Get to know them. Have them in your home. Dine with them. And love them.

And what better way exists to do that, than a July 4th Block Party?! Come grill out, watch fireworks, & have a blast together!
One of the only traditions we’re carrying over from our Samuels Ave Building’s “Baptist days” is the annual bash they threw on July 4. Way more than just a few folks from the neighborhood, our entire church family will gather there, bringing folks from across the city, for BBQ, live bands, and a direct, up-close view of the downtown fireworks at LaGrave Field, which is right across the Trinity River from our property.

Help Needed!

Even with the 20-person congregation of Samuels Ave, last year saw 150 folks at the party, so we are expecting at least that; we’re planning for 200+ folks. This means we need help! Email Ben ASAP if you can/want to help with any of the following:
  • Live music (playing/singing or helping run sound)
  • Directing traffic/parking
  • Helping coordinate/serve/donate food/drinks
  • Crowd-control/security

Additionally, this is a great point of connection with the Samuels Ave neighborhood, so we need our folks to be looking for folks, talking with them, and getting names and contact info. This will be a great, fun fiesta – make plans to be there!
