reCREATE

Event Date:
4/16/2010 7:00pm - 9:00pm

A night of sharing and celebrating our songs, art, spoken word, and other re-creations

One of the unique ways that humans reflect the image of God is to create. We realize that God first created, and that we reCREATE, using the mind, talents, and passion God has put in us. Whether art, music, word, or otherwise, as we powerfully and joyfully produce meaningful, beautiful expressions, we show God to our church family, to our neighbors, and to our city.

As we share our creations together, part of our joy comes from knowingt we can approach it freely, not depending on the quality of the creation or the validation of others to say it's good, but rather because we are already called good in Jesus.

So come celebrate our re-creativity together, whether you actively participate or not: we'll provide heavy hors d'oeuvres and good beverages, and you don't have to be involved with The City Church family, or even a Christian, to come or participate - after all, there's technically no such thing as "Christian" music or "Christian" art, etc; there is good music, art, and words created by Christians, and there is good music, art, and words created by folks who aren't. And we want to celebrate all of that.

We'll invite painters of all skill levels to display their works, explaining the meaning and process that went into making it. We'll ask songwriters, new and experienced, to share their songs and tell us the stories that went into writing it. We'll have poets and storytellers share their work, whether it's their first time or their millionth. And we'll celebrate God, through the beauty, meaning, and re-creativity together.

> Do you paint? Write? Make music? Or do anything else re-creative? Email Ben by April 12 to participate.
