Men, Women, & Singles

The image that the Bible most commonly uses to describe the church is that of “family.” One of our gospel identities is that we are family. So in everything we do, we ask how we can look as much like an actual family as possible. Traditional families are not made up of one gender, one specific age group, or any one stage of life. Instead, there is more depth, growth, perspective, and balance as we do life in intergenerational gatherings with single and married folks; men and women; teenagers and grandparents, and everyone in between. So in The City Church’s Villages and other regular gatherings, we encourage people of all ages and life stages, and both genders, to do life together. In this way, we truly live as the family of God, and find unity in diversity occur as you interact with folks who are perhaps a little unlike yourself.
But we believe that men have a responsibility to sacrificially care and provide for the women and children in their home and communities, and that women have a responsibility to love and care for their family and our city. In The City Church, we believe we are called to equip boys to become men, and girls to become women, who love Jesus and fulfill their responsibility to lead and serve their families and community.
So based on our biblical understanding of humanity and our philosophy of discipleship and training, men in The City Church invest in each other, and women invest in each other, as we all invest in God’s mission. Men regularly and informally hang out, discipling and exhorting each other toward biblical manhood; women regularly and informally spend time together, discipling and exhorting each other toward biblical womenhood.
Since there is no "official programming" for this, so we encourage you to take the initiative and simply invite folks over and get to know other men and women. Spend time with other guys or with other ladies, or ask a man or woman you respect to spend time with you and mentor you. If you need help with this, get in touch with a Village leader close to where you live (link to Villages).
> When The City Church does offer a retreat, class, “man night,” “girls night,” or other opportunity specifically geared toward men or women, you can find it on our church calendar.
